When Alida and Jason told me they were getting married at Thomas Hogan Reserve, I honestly had no idea where that would be. This little reserve tucked away in the middle of Bondi Junction suburbs is a lush haven surrounded by towering trees and steep hills. After looking for her perfect wedding dress and having no luck, Alida wore a non-traditional white jumpsuit with cape from ASOS and a custom avant garde headpiece from Ford Millinery. The bridal party got ready at the Meriton in Bondi Junction. With rain forecast for the day, everyone was anxiously checking the weather for signs of a downpour. There was no backup plan for the ceremony so the show would be going on whether the rain came or not.
The rain came as the bride left for the ceremony but with a stroke of luck cleared as she arrived at the reserve, holding off until everyone had left for the reception. The timing could not have been more perfect.
Alida walked down the aisle with both parents on either side giving her away to her soon-to-be-husband, Jason who was visibly nervous. The ceremony was conducted by Tammy Sussman.
The guests celebrated the couples marriage with beer and champagne before heading off to the reception at Russian Nights, also in Bondi Junction just as the rain started down again.
The bride was approached by a group of young girls who had seen the wedding. They gave her flowers and a painted rock as a wedding gift.
At the reception, the guests enjoyed a Russian buffet along with giant bottles of Russian vodka placed on each. Obviously, the dance floor went OFF.
